So why are you here, at this website? Probably because I either sent you the link to this blog or because you saw it posted on one of our socials, but I know the real reason you’re here. Entertainment. To satisfy the unquenchable thirst of boredom. Or at the very least, read some toilet time material. Since we kicked this thing off, I have been very inconsistent with how often I write and it’s time to fix that. It’s time to put pen to paper (fingers to keyboard) and get into the weeds that is supposed to be this blog: takes, rants, rambles, and (hopefully) laughs. But before we get into that, I must do a better job introducing myself and what my personal vision and contributions for my side of MoonStamp is. So. *Grabs your hand to shake* Without further ado: ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF, MY NAME IS AURIC (See Jay Z’s Public Service Announcement)

Full disclosure. Most of the first introduction still plays. I’m still going to lay out my picks and hypothetical bets. I’m still going to talk out my ass (sorry Papa Auric, still learning on how to clean out my language). I’m still going to base thing off vibes and eye test (no deep dive nerd stats [unless it proves my point]). I’m still not going to edit these beyond whatever words Word Press tells me I misspelled. And I’m still going to shamelessly plug my twitch channel (twitch.tv/AuricPolaris). But that’s not all! I’m now going to set an admittedly low standard for myself. 2-3 blogs a week (1 1000 word with 2 300-500 word ones or 2 1000 word ones). It’s not a lot, but it’s a low bar that I can hit a consistent balance with my work, streaming, social/family life, and relationship. Only s so much Brian to go around, people.

“Okay, but what will you actually be writing about?” I’m sure you just asked yourself. Hah. Fantastic question! The plain and simple answer is: dunno. Whatever I feel like I can jot my thoughts down and get a laugh out of you. From video games, to hypothetical bets, to sports news, all the way to treating this as my diary. When it’s football season, you can expect at least one weekly blog about that. But until then, just whatever I feel like. 

Now a little about me. I’m a 28 year old dude that interests shouldn’t blow anyone away. I’ve been playing video games since was in kindergarten. First game I remember playing was Pokémon Blue. I don’t even think I could read, but I somehow managed to become Kanto’s Champion and catch Mewtwo in the cave behind Cerulean City. Don’t question greatness, I suppose. Streaming has also been a big interest in mine, because even if I don’t get any viewers or chat is quieter than Cowboys so far this off-season, I still am just playing games I enjoy. Win win, really. On the flip side, Sports (Hypothetical) Gambling is probably my second favorite pass time, reigniting my love for all things sports. Now that sounds bad, but if it’s something that can make me care about a game like The Hornets vs The Pistons, it can’t be all bad right? 

All that being said! I’m cheeks at video games now. I’m booty at (hypothetical) betting. I’m doodoo at keeping to a constant media (blogging and streaming) schedule. And I’m straight up ASS at being an adult. Just in general. Don’t even get me started about cooking. But, under Big Beef, I’ll get better (slowly).

Which brings us to my next topic. Who’s Big Beef? Well instead of doxxing my friends, I’ll be referring to them primarily through nicknames. From Big Beef, to Radymir (not a real name but he’ll know who he is and I’ll probably pick a different name), to E, to Papa Smurf, to C-Train, to Bookie (friend who I talk about bets the most with, not an actual bookie), to Ren, to Moon, to Nick. Plenty of references will be made towards them so best get aquatinted to them now. Anytime you see the name Meegs though, that’s my significant other (humble brag).

Now we get into the breakdown of the different topics that I mentioned earlier. Video Games blogs can range from reviews (funny), reviews (serious), trailer reactions, predictions, hopes/dreams, and nostalgia goggles. A lot of the time they’ll have some direct relation to what I’ve been streaming (shameless plug numero dos). Hypothetical betting could be lists of actual I would take, rants about bad beats, and shoulda/coulda/wouldas. Sports….well anything sports related, whatever spicy takes come to mind. And finally, my public diary. Rants and just funny stories that happen to me in real life. Nothing life changing but just a fun way to get shit off my chest that I think people might get a kick out of. Examples:

Video Game: Yesterday while streaming, Moon reminded me of a game I had interest in awhile ago but never got around to playing. I had asked him for a 10-15 hour game to stream through and he delivered me: Tunic. It was on my radar years ago, but I kept pushing it back for whatever reasons. Other games came out, I wasn’t in the mood for something new, etc. Well now comes the time to pick up the sticks, take control of the cute fox in Link cosplay, and play the damn thing. My understanding is that it’s similar to top down Zelda games, which I have very little experience in, outside of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I’m looking forward to it, but it’s a puzzle game, so I’m sure there will be plenty of dumb Auric clips coming. (This Friday at 7 pm central, twitch.tv/AuricPolaris, shameless plug #3)

Hypothetical Betting: How the hell is scoring up across the NBA, but I can’t pick an Over to save my life? I l think I’m (hypothetically) 0-7 in my last 7. Put ball in basket. Please. I would like to say NCAAM is going well, but that’s laughable. Mr. Bookie is keeping me afloat with his picks though. Man, I’m so (not betting wise) ready for March Madness to begin though!

Sports: Hey, Texans are finally making moves after what felt like a slow slow start. Danielle Hunter is a MASSIVE get. He led the league in sacks for a good minute last year and will certainly take some attention of the offensive line away from Will Anderson. Here’s to two 15 sack havers (hopefully) this season. Now on the offensive side of the ball…please be good Joe Mixon. We only have up a 7th for him, but he was about to be released and we need to sign him before Sunday I believe. Please make it happen so we don’t look dumb

Diary: My boss’s boss told me today that it is going to be equivalent of our D-Day at work which was an all time way to tell me “good morning it’s about to be a day”. But he’s also letting me take a half day tomorrow to go to my dentist appointment, so, sure man. Whatever you say, boss!

Blogs are going to be such a fun adventure and creative outlet for me. I used to love writing, hell even tried writing my own book and a bunch of short stories, but I could never commit to one idea, one setting, or one story. Through blogging I can knock out a thought, story, or take in a couple hundred (to thousand) words and get on with my day after I got the creative juices flowing. Last time, I gave you a list of my favorite video games, which hasn’t changed, so instead I’ll give you a list of my favorite none-Houston (nor Notre Dame) based professional teams.

NFL: Patriots. My grandfather was a big Patriots fan when he lived up in New England and I decided to carry that torch too. Boy, was I lucky. I got to watch Tom Brady for his whole career and actively cheer him on! They have fallen on hard times. Like real hard times, but at least the Texans are on the rise. Also receiving votes: Bengals (Joe Burrow) and Lions. Joe Burrow was so much fun at LSU I can’t help but cheer for his success. As for the Lions, who doesn’t love the turn around from what they’ve been for so long.

NHL: Seattle Kraken. I wanted to get into the NHL and they were the most recent explanation team, so it kinda just fell into place. For a bonus reason, I used to drink Kraken Spices Rum (#NotAnAd). Also receiving votes: Penguins and Blackhawks. WHAT?? HOW? Simple: penguins are my favorite animal and Connor Bernard is ELECTRIC.

 MLB: None. Houston vs all y’all.

NBA: This year? Clippers. I would love to see Harden and Westbrook get a ring. Not only because I loved watching them in their prime, but because the NBA world would be Big Mad about it. I guess with that being said, the Celtics too. I know several people whowould be mad if they won it which would be funny. 

So yeah. Welcome back to me. I’m here to stay this time. I hope this blog answered that question proposed by Simmons on April 1st, 2003. I’m here to get my thoughts out of my head and into blogs and to entertain y’all as much as possible. Stay thirsty, my friends. There’s more to come.
